Ryan Halquist, Ph.D.
Licensed Clinical Psychologist
Ryan provides a calming and safe space for individuals to be heard and takes pride in helping others build trust in managing their mental health. His previous position as a Substance Abuse Specialist at the University of San Francisco's Counseling & Psychological Services was multifaceted and dimensional in its scope. He was responsible for the evaluation and support of students mandated for assessment after substance abuse violation(s) and students in recovery from drugs and/or alcohol.
As a licensed clinical psychologist, Ryan also had a private practice in San Francisco where he provided gentle and compassionate psychotherapy to adults, couples, and adolescents. Additionally, he has over 10 years of clinical experience within outpatient clinics, hospitals, schools, and residential programs. Within his private practice, he used a collaborative, eclectic approach with clients to help facilitate and foster a safe environment.
Ryan continues to apply these skills at DAP where he enables his patients to feel comfortable and not judged as they begin to explore how topics such as their mental health, trauma histories, and families of origin issues influence their lives today and—through those explorations—helps his patients begin to heal. In his work with DAP, he enjoys being part of a multi-disciplinary team that works to treat the whole person and the personal fulfillment that comes from seeing patients heal from long-term mental health issues.
When he was living in the Bay Area, Ryan served on the board of the San Francisco-based LGBTQ swim team, volunteered with the San Francisco Chapter of the Human Rights Campaign Community Engagement, and volunteered with the Bay Area Grief Camp for children/teens.
"I believe patients bond with me because I provide a non-threatening and non-judgmental attitude and philosophy to their journey in therapy."
