Director of Major and Planned Giving
Chris joined Desert AIDS Project in July 2016 after a long career in the San Francisco Bay Area in positions ranging from Chief Development Officer to Executive Director for organizations including San Francisco Opera, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, and the University of California. He holds a Master’s Degree in Philanthropy and Strategic Fundraising and is a specialist in personalized, high-value major and planned giving opportunities.
Prior to a career in fundraising, Ruetz was a hotel and convention center events manager from which his passion for volunteer-driven charitable events developed. During the early 1990’s he served on the local steering committee for the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) and co-chaired their annual San Francisco gala in 1993 and 1994. Currently, Chris is President of the Movie Colony East Neighborhood Organization and always looking for new opportunities to add value to the community he loves.
