After touring D.A.P. and learning that chiropractic was not available, Dr. Jim Cox agreed to begin offering his services; currently, chiropractic is offered through the clinic Wednesdays and Fridays from 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM.
While practicing traditional, hands-on manipulation as the core of his chiropractic approach, Dr. Cox’s philosophy in treating patients of all ages is to “use what works for the individual.” That means he also employs a number of other treatment techniques, such as drop table, activator, and soft tissue manipulation.
After majoring in Communication Studies at California State University, Dr. Cox became a Certified Massage Therapist in 2001 and spent the next three years in that capacity in a chiropractic office before deciding to get his D.C. degree. After receiving his Doctorate in Chiropractic from Southern California University of Health Sciences (SCU) in 2007, he spent six years in private practice in Laguna Beach before returning to his alma mater to become a clinician, quality assurance chair, and lecturer. Dr. Cox moved to Palm Springs with his husband, Eric, in October 2015; at which time he commuted to the university until becoming a full-time resident in January 2017. Since then he has re-entered into private practice here in Palm Springs, in addition to his time spent at D.A.P.
A strong believer in service, Dr. Cox has participated in various committees and organizations, including Rotary, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, and the annual AIDS LifeCycleTM event, where he currently serves as captain of the Chiropractic/Acupuncture Sports Medicine team.
