April 6 Drawing Your Own Conclusions
Drawing-dinner

Lucky guests will arrive at the lovely Brinkman/Grimm home for cocktails and hors d’oeuvres. Each “guest artist” will be presented with a smock. The elusive question of “What is art?” has no bearing as the immediate challenge is to focus on art-making rather than art-viewing. Artist Ken Carls (Professor Emeritus, U. of I. School of Art & Design) will lead guests to “art stations” set on the terrace overlooking the valley, stressing that the works needn’t be masterpieces, that everyone’s style can be unique. We’ll shed all lofty notions of divine inspiration and angst-ridden self-expression and ignore the need for well-honed skill, talent or taste. Instead, we’ll indulge in the guilty delights of a little playful image-making of our own. As dinner is served on the lower terrace around the pool, the surprising finishing touch will be revealed!

Hosts: David Brinkman & Dr. Will Grimm
Where: Brinkman/Grimm home
Date: Thursday, April 6
Time: 6 pm
Guests: 20
Attire: Colorful or artsy but definitely smock-ready!
