Substance Use Care

A service or set of services that may include medication, counseling, and other supportive services designed to enable an individual to reduce or eliminate alcohol and/or other drug use, address associated physical or mental health problems, and restore the client to maximum functional ability. Services are provided by Psychiatrists, Psychologist and other mental health providers (CADAC, LMFT, LCSW).

Psychiatry is the medical specialty devoted to the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of mental disorders. These include various mal-adaptations related to mood, behavior, cognition, and perceptions. Because psychiatrists are trained medical doctors, they can prescribe medications, and they spend much of their time with patients on medication management as a course of treatment.
