Walgreens Again Supports Palm Springs AIDS Walk With In Store Promotion

Walgreens again supports Palm Springs AIDS Walk with in-store promotion

Posted September 13th, 2011 –

(PALM SPRINGS, CA – September 13, 2011)

Throughout the month of September, the Walgreens Red Ribbon promotion has returned for the second year to 29 local area Walgreens stores in support of the 24th Palm Springs AIDS Walk, to benefit client services at Desert AIDS Project.

“Walgreens has been a valued partner of ours for many years and has an in-house pharmacy at D.A.P for the convenience of our clients,” said David Brinkman, CEO of Desert AIDS Project. “Last year, Walgreens donated $15,000 from the Red Ribbon in-store promotion and they are a big part of this year’s Health & Wellness Festival at the Walk.”

Desert AIDS Project thanks everyone who has already made a contribution at one of the participating Walgreens stores and encourages them to consider helping to raise even more money by forming their own Walk team. D.A.P. has made it easy for anyone to donate to the Walk or to set up their own Walk team page and solicit donations from family and friends. Registration for the 2011 Palm Springs AIDS Walk begins at 7:30 AM at Ruth Hardy Park in Palm Springs with activities, including entertainment, beginning at 8:30 before the Walk steps off at 9:30. The Health & Wellness Festival, presented by Walgreens, will be open from 8:00 AM until noon and will include more than 70 health-related practitioners, offering a variety of free tests, evaluations, and educational materials.

Once again, Walkers will set off from the park at Tachevah and Avenida Caballeros along an easy route through the historic Movie Colony and along Palm Canyon Drive. Plenty of free parking is available and well-behaved pets on leashes are welcomed.

Desert AIDS Project is the organization in our community where people living with HIV and AIDS can receive comprehensive support, including medical care, case management, and social services. D.A.P. also offers free and confidential HIV testing at a number of locations throughout the communities it serves.
