Restaurants score best Dining Out for Life fundraiser yet for D.A.P.
Posted May 20th, 2011 – Press Releases
With most of the thirty-seven participating restaurants in Palm Springs, Cathedral City, Rancho Mirage, and Palm Desert reporting their 33% or 50% contribution of sales from this years Dining Out for Life event on Thursday, April 28, the annual fundraiser has already surpassed its goal of raising $115,000.
This was the largest number of participating restaurants in the six years that we’ve been putting on this fundraiser, said David Brinkman, CEO of Desert AIDS Project. We had 10 more restaurants this year and some of them have been with us since the very first year. We’ve even heard from one of the long-timers that they’ll be back in 2012 with a 75% contribution for breakfast, lunch, and dinner on April 26th!
In addition to the generous owners, managers, and staffs of the restaurants, D.A.P. would like to thank Presenting Sponsor Bank of America and Smirnoff as Platinum Sponsor.
More than 100 volunteer ambassadors helped increase restaurant visits on this special day with personal invitations and by using social media sites, like Facebook, Twitter, and Yelp. As the ambassadorsroamed through their chosen restaurants, generous patrons responded with more than $25,000 in direct donations to D.A.P.
Warren Parrot, dining at Johnny Costa Ristorante, was Grand Prize winner of the raffle, receiving two tickets each to the upcoming Time Warp Mid-Summer Dance Party on Saturday, July 23rd and to the Steve Chase Humanitarian Awards gala on February 11, 2012. As raffle runners-up, Robbie and Jed Orme can stock their pantry with a $250 Ralphs gift card, after dining at Cello.
To show its ongoing gratitude to its 37 generous community partners, Desert AIDS Project will help support the marketing efforts of those participating in the 2011 Palm Springs Desert Resorts Restaurant Week, June 3-12.
