Dinner at My Place fundraiser returns for Desert AIDS Project
(PALM SPRINGS, CA – January 31, 2012)
When last year’s inaugural Dinner at My Place event – in which diners chose from a variety of food and entertainment extravaganzas all on the same evening – the only complaint heard was “Why do I have to choose just ONE?”
Co-chairs Barbara Keller and Steve Kaufer made note and got busy planning a multi-evening food-and-fun opportunity. This year, from Monday, March 12 through Thursday, March 15, Dinner at My Place will offer 11 enticing parties, each smartly planned by hosts who might be feeling just a bit of friendly competition, to see whose dinner is the most popular.
Nearly 3,000 invitations have already been mailed, asking who might be interested in setting their watches to “Midnight in Paris,” a little bit of “Broadway Comes to the Desert,” hanging out “With the Ghost of Cary Grant,” attending “The School of Cool,” or choosing from seven other, equally-clever options, to make their choices of up to four different dinners over four consecutive nights.
If you’re feeling left out because the invitation hasn’t hit your mailbox yet, you can go to DesertAIDSProject.org, to print out and complete the reservation card. If last year’s event is any indicator, you might want to hurry and mark your 1st, 2nd, and 3rd choices so that you have a better chance of attending the can’t-miss party of your choice on any or ALL of those four evenings.
Each dinner is $150 per person – all of which will benefit D.A.P. because the party hosts are paying for the entire cost of the evening! Since these parties were so popular last year, your choices for this year will be entered into a lottery, to determine which lucky people get their first choice.
All reservation cards with dinner choices must be postmarked by February 6, 2012 or received via email to jallen@desertaidsproject.org or by fax to 760-864-9468. Of course, if you’re as competitive as some of the dinner hosts are rumored to be, you can simply choose to “Buy It Now” by paying $250 – knowing that your additional donation will move you to the front of the line! That way, you can go to the Lottery Results Pre-Party, hosted by Time Warner Cable Signature Home, at the home of D.A.P. supporters Kenny Jervis and Michael Crisp on Tuesday, February 21st with an even bigger smile on your face, knowing that Dinner at My Place is going to be just what you wanted.
Desert AIDS Project serves people living with HIV and AIDS by providing comprehensive support, including medical care, case management, and social services, like food, housing, and counseling. D.A.P. also offers free and confidential HIV testing at a number of locations throughout the communities it serves.
