(PALM SPRINGS, CA – August 17, 2011)
The recent passing of Guy Lawson, a prominent member of the Palm Springs community, has left many saddened by the loss of a man who gave so much to so many others.
Lawson founded the HIV/AIDS Special Care Center at Desert Regional Medical Center, helping to provide comprehensive and compassionate care that complimented the services being offered by Desert AIDS Project. His relationships with DRMC’s staff and volunteers at the Special Care Center benefited D.A.P. in a number of ways, including a gift of $220,000 from the estate of one of his fellow volunteers that created The Ed Doran Care Coordination Program for D.A.P. clients.
“Guy was a wonderful supporter of Desert AIDS Project,” said David Brinkman, CEO of D.A.P. “In fact, he and his partner, Dick Taylor, were among the founding members of our Partners for Life major donor program and Dick served a number of years on our board of directors. Our hearts go out to Dick at this very difficult time and we hope that everyone will extend their sympathies on the loss of his life partner.”
