An Early Christmas Gift For Some Clients

An early Christmas gift for some clients

Posted December 7th, 2011 –

Earlier this week, some very lucky D.A.P. clients were treated to an early Christmas gift when they won a fresh, full, and lovely Douglas Fir Christmas tree. These trees were graciously donated to Desert AIDS Project by the Palm Desert High School Vocal Music Program and their supporters, thanks to the generous hearts of the boosters. On Saturday, December 3, a Revivals truck picked up 22 freshly cut trees recently delivered from the Pacific Northwest and dropped them off at our office in Palm Springs.

Because this was the first year the christmas tree donation had been organized, we weren’t sure how many trees we’d be receiving. Since we have over 2,000 active clients, we wanted a fair way of distributing the trees to those who wanted them. The D.A.P. Community Center held a drawing for clients to win one of the 22 trees. Over 100 clients entered the drawing, and the lucky winners dropped by Desert AIDS Project on Monday, December 5 to pick up their prizes. Many clients were thankful and appreciative of their trees, and some even shed tears of joy upon collection. It just goes to show you that something so common for many of us can truly make a holiday season for those less fortunate.

Thanks to Suzy Felson, Jeanne Bruning, the Vocal Music Boosters at PDHS, everyone who purchased a tree to be donated to us, Revivals, and our Department of Social Services for coordinating this entire effort. It was truly heart-warming.
