| DESERT
AIDS PROJECT TO
CONDUCT HOLIDAY FOOD DRIVE
(PALM SPRINGS, CA – November 22, 2006)
Desert AIDS Project is conducting a food drive
to provide a holiday meal for each of its 2,200
clients this season. A donation of $40 will provide
a nourishing meal for a family of four. Checks
payable to Desert AIDS Project (write Food Drive
in the memo line) can be mailed to 1695 N. Sunrise
Way, Palm Springs 92262. For questions, or to
make a secure credit card donation, call 1-800-692-2295.
Many of Desert AIDS Project’s clients live
on less than $1,000 a month. After they pay rent
and utilities and put gas in the car, there’s
very little left for food. Good nutrition is vital
for people living with HIV/AIDS who take daily
medications. These individuals are fighting infection
and have particular nutritional needs. Most of
the medications must be taken before, during or
after a meal. For people living with HIV/AIDS,
food is medicine.
“The desert community is tremendously generous,”
notes D.A.P. Executive Director David Brinkman,
“and I know we can count on our friends
and neighbors to support individuals living with
HIV/AIDS during the holiday season. We can count
on our community’s good will to make the
holidays so much brighter for people who truly
deserve happiness.”
Desert AIDS Project at the Greenburg-Peet Family
Center is the organization in our community where
people living with HIV and AIDS can receive comprehensive
services to help manage HIV disease. D.A.P. offers
primary medical care through its Wells Fargo HIV
Health Center. The Project provides widespread
education and prevention services for schools,
civic organizations, businesses, churches and
health organizations throughout the communities
it serves. Anonymous HIV testing is also provided.
