Client FAQs


  • I just moved to the area. Can I become a client immediately?

    NO. There is a 30-day residency requirement before you can access services at Desert AIDS Project. This means that you must live in the area for at least one month before you can become a client. Make sure you have access to medications during this period by contacting your insurance provider.

  • Can I receive services if I don't bring all the required documents to my intake appointment?

    NO. Services will not be available to you until all of the required documents are received.

  • I only want medical care from D.A.P. and no other services. Do I still have to complete the intake process?

    NO. Individuals only seeking access to the medical clinic do not have to go through intake. They may call the HIV Health Center directly, as long as they have some form of insurance. For more information, please call Zayda Welden at 760-992-0476.

  • Can I attend Desert AIDS Project fundraisers for free?

    D.A.P. often provides a limited number of complimentary tickets for clients through the Community Services Manager and DAPCAN. Be sure to sign up to receive emails from both to stay in the loop.

  • How many times must I go through the intake process?

    After the initial intake, you will go through the update process every six months afterwards, providing 2 proofs of residence, proof of income, photo ID, and insurance cards each time.

  • How can I voice a complaint or suggestion for improvement in D.A.P. services?
